Accurate measurements are an important part of ordering a made-to-measure outfit online. A careful measurement routine gives the studio a clearer starting point for planning your fit.
Measure, don't estimate.
Use a flexible tape, stand naturally and follow the studio's instructions for the specific design.
Your Measurement Guide
Before You Measure
- Use a flexible measuring tape.
- Wear light, close-fitting clothing or the undergarments you expect to wear with the outfit.
- Stand naturally without holding your breath or pulling your stomach in.
- Keep the tape level and comfortably close to the body without tightening it.
Common Measurements
Measure around the fullest part of the bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
Measure around your natural waist without pulling the tape tight.
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat while standing naturally.
Measure across the shoulder points as requested by the studio.
Measure from the appropriate starting point to your desired hem while considering the footwear you expect to wear.
Why Measurements Differ by Outfit
A fitted gown, flowing dress, lehenga, kurta set and other Indian occasion-wear styles do not use exactly the same measurement requirements. The studio may request additional measurements depending on the design.
